Cottonwood Events is an event design and planning company servicing the Kansas City, Lawrence, and Topeka areas. We focus on wedding coordination, corporate meetings, parties and community events. There is one simple mission at the heart of Cottonwood Events: to plan and execute events that are second to none. Our clients deserve the best, and that is what we strive to be.
For the founders Abby Lewis and Paige Carrier, Cottonwood Events is the culmination of over ten years of friendship and experience. After meeting as Journalism & Mass Communication majors at the University of Kansas, the pair found they were kindred spirits in their ethic for hard work and organization. While remaining close, Abby’s path led her to corporate event planning, while Paige worked in wedding coordination. In Cottonwood Events, a long-anticipated partnership found its perfect niche.
Abby has a can-do attitude and a gracious confidence that brings a positive energy to her events, while Paige’s calm demeanor, resourcefulness, and problem-solving helps any stressed client feel at ease. With their complementing personalities, Paige and Abby make the perfect team to take on your next big event.
After graduating from the University of Kansas, Abby returned home to Chicago where she started her career at a consulting company that focused on designing, developing, and deploying corporate events for Fortune 500 companies. It’s there that Abby discovered her love of logistics and her knack for attention to detail. While working on remarkable projects like shutting down Las Vegas Boulevard for a charitable 5K and hosting a former Secretary of State as speaker for a one-thousand-person audience of national sales professionals, Abby gained invaluable experience and grew as a leader in planning corporate events.
In 2013, Abby followed her heart back to Kansas, where she worked as the Special Events Director of the Dodge City Chamber of Commerce. She continued to expand her repertoire with events like the Annual Chamber Banquet, charitable golf tournaments, and community meetings. Abby was also the head coordinator of Dodge City Days, the second largest community festival in Kansas, for five consecutive years.
With the opportunity to plan her own wedding in 2016, Abby discovered a special joy in creating events that bring families together. Now she lives in Topeka with her husband, Brad, and their pup, Drake. She is thrilled to be back in the eastern Kansas area with the opportunity to put her years of experience in professional event planning to use. When she’s not working, Abby enjoys yoga, traveling, discovering cute coffee shops, spending time with friends and family, and rooting for her Jayhawks!
After completing her degree at the University of Kansas, Paige secured a position in client services at a Kansas City marketing company, working her way up through five positions over the last eight years. There, she works alongside a variety of vendors and internal departments to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget. It is in this role that Paige discovered her strength for putting clients first and her drive for tackling any to-do list.
Searching for a change of pace from her day-to-day role and a creative outlet for her passions, Paige started assisting in wedding coordination. Over three years and more than thirty weddings, Paige managed day-of assistance, planning, and venue coordination for a host of happy clients. As her industry knowledge expanded, Paige realized she could take on more projects and provide clients with a one-of-a-kind personalized experience if she partnered to start her own business.
Paige is devoted to prompt communication, attention to detail, and dynamic problem-solving. Her calm disposition instantly puts brides at ease, a feeling that is deepened when clients experience her detailed nature and inexhaustible tenacity. From vision to fruition, an event overseen by Paige is sure to receive seamless execution and sincere attention to detail— commitments every bride deserves and appreciates. In her downtime, Paige loves to hang out with her friends and family, whether it be camping out with a few friends watching sports, vegging out on the couch with a good book, or indulging in a day of pampering.
